Stonehaven Radio - Coast Radio Station Abandoned
Some photos and drone footage of this BT coastal radio station known as "GND" which provided a service from opening in 1956 till 2000. New communications technology meant it was no longer required. There was an Admiralty Radio station on or near this site in WW2. To see all the pictures I took on the day, see my Flickr album www.flickr.com/photos/grahaminnes/albums/72177720318597210/

A quick walk through the only Sleeping Shelter for 33 (15476/40) still standing at the site of the former RAF Peterhead. This type of shelter was normaly at dispersal sites/pens so pilots and aircrew could sleep close to their aircraft in readiness for a callout. It comprised 11 sets of triple bunks. @GrahamInnes1 7 днів тому

@@localbod Hello, the the first part is the Air Ministry design number and the 2nd part is the year of the design. So 9026/41 would be design drawing number 9026 of 1941. This is normally found on an official site plan. I include it for the purist really. But many designs were standard, or of the peg and could be seen right across the country. Ie, most bomber stations would have the same sort of hangars. Big training stations like Manby would have those large barrack blocks etc etc Hope this helps.

@@GrahamInnes1 Ah, yes, of course. I see it now and it makes perfect sense. If my memory serves me well, the Wehrmacht had a similar numbering scheme for the bunkers, etc..., that made up the Atlantic Wall. I admire the fact that you include it and now I know that it's not some kind of one-time pad cipher code. 😂😉 Thank you so much for the explanation. 👍😎
